Hello from Ouray!
We just want to reach out to give you an accurate update on how we’re doing here in Ouray!
The Gold Mountain Fire is located north of us and continues to move away from our area. Ouray was very fortunate to be spared from the direct fire by winds blowing from south to northeast. Some of our friends, neighbors and employees to the north have been evacuated from their homes, but they are safe, as are all residences, and we hope that they will be back home soon.
Ouray is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
The stores and restaurants are OPEN!
The off-road trails south of Ouray and on the Alpine Loop are OPEN (and not crowded)!
The roads are OPEN, except for occasional closures on Highway 550 due to fire management needs between Ridgway and Ouray, but detours are in place!
The Perimeter Trail is OPEN, as are all hiking trails south of Ouray.
The Ouray Hot Springs Pool is OPEN!
The Ouray Via Ferrata is OPEN TO GUIDED TOURS.
If you are reactive to smoke, please bring a good mask — the smoke is currently minimal, but conditions can change according to the wind.
There is no reason to cancel your plans. You will be welcome and appreciated here in Ouray!
